The house is located in a very peaceful location. The only sounds you hear are those from nearby cows and donkeys. The outdoor space is very nicely done with many resting areas. The hammock was a big plus! Fulvio was an excellent host, easy to reach and with great recommendations to offer! He also prepared a great breakfast for us which was locally sourced. A few minor things I could point is that the bed mattresses were very firm and that the bathroom does have ventilation but no window.

Fulvio is more than a super host, a ready smile that comes from the heart, he will tell you anything you need to know about the island and will prepare delicious breakfasts every morning. We are super grateful for the days spent in this place and highly recommend it!

Thanks to him, we visited the beaches and restaurants he recommended us and without his suggestions we wouldn't know where we could go. The house was very nice, very comfortable and clean. The breakfast he prepared for us was great and a very nice touch to start the day. It was one of the best airbnb's we have stayed so far. Thank you for everything!

Our family of three had a wonderful long weekend at Fulvio and Teo's place. The communication was great and the place was very easy to find with GPS even though Fulvio kindly offered to meet us and show us the way. The apartment is in a stunning and quiet location with beautiful quiet beaches just a short drive away. It was very clean and comfortable - perfect for relaxing after looking around the gorgeous island. A lovely breakfast was provided each morning. Fulvio and Teo gave us great tips on where to eat, beaches and things to see. We particularly recommend the largest of the two tavernas in Kato Meria just a short drive away - amazing fresh-tasting food. Thank you guys! We will be back. Don't change anything!

This place was just superb!!! Waking up every morning to an incredible view from the hill facing infinite Aegean blue was amazing. Surrounded by greenery and silence, the house is a perfect getaway for a short or long stay. It is perfectly suitable for families, or close friends, or romantic couples. The location of the Guest House was near the best natural beaches and great Greek tavernas around. In case you want to go to centre for shopping or dining, it takes only 20 mins car drive from the house.Fulvio was a perfect host. Very welcoming, thoughtful and helpful. Every morning a delicious breakfast made from local ingredients was waiting for us on the veranda. Two of our friends are Vegans, so thank you Fulvio again to offer vegan choices! We will definitely stay again and again and again in this amazing Guest House on a beautiful Kea Island.

Great place with great and smiling host that did more than expected from us to make our stay beautiful

Temple of Athena (Karthaia)

Island of Kea (Greece - Cyclades)

Information on the beautiful Island of Kea

Kea is the location of a Bronze Age settlement at the site now called Ayia Irini, which reached its height in the Late Minoan and Early Mycenaean eras (1600–1400 BC).

In the Archaic period, the island was divided between four city-states (poleis): Ioulis, Karthaia, Poieessa and Koressos.

During the classical period, Kea (Ceos) was the home of Simonides and of his nephew Bacchylides, both ancient Greek lyric poets, of the Sophist Prodicus, and of the physician Erasistratus. The inhabitants were known for offering sacrifices to the Dog Star, Sirius and to Zeus to bring cooling breezes while awaiting the reappearance of Sirius in summer; if the star rose clear, it would portend good fortune; if it was misty or faint, then it foretold (or emanated) pestilence. Coins retrieved from the island from the 3rd century BC feature dogs or stars with emanating rays, highlighting Sirius' importance.

The stone-carved Lion of Kea (also known as the Lion of Ioulis or Liontas) dates to at least 600 BC.
The island is known for an ancient stone-carved lion, known as the Lion of Ioulis (or Liontas), which was carved some time prior to 600 BC. According to legend, the island of Kea was once home to population of water nymphs whose beauty, along with their lovely island, made the gods jealous, who sent a lion to lay waste to the island. In any case, the mainland of Greece was home to a significant population of lions throughout the classical period.

During the Byzantine period, many churches were built and the prosperity of the island rose. It was Byzantine until, in 1204, it was captured by the Venetians in the wake of the Fourth Crusade. The Archbishop of Athens, Michael Choniates, came here in exile after his city fell to the Crusaders in 1205. It was recaptured by the Byzantines under Licario in 1278. In around 1302 during the Byzantine–Venetian War, it again fell to the Venetians, who built a castle on the ancient acropolis of Ioulis.

Kea was taken from the Venetians by the Ottoman Turks in 1537. Along with the rest of the Cyclades, Kea joined Greece following the Greek War of Independence in 1821.

HMHS Britannic, the largest ship sunk in World War I, which was a sister ship of the RMS Olympic and the ill-fated RMS Titanic, sank off Kea island in November 1916, having hit a mine, with the loss of thirty lives.
